Stressed man with head in his hands

So? Are you feeling stressed?

We Are Tabono is based on an holistic approach to entrepreneurship and our programme covers both business skills, and the mindset, confidence and wellbeing of the entrepreneur. From our own and our clients’ experiences, we know how easy it is to let wellbeing slide whilst pursuing your entrepreneurial dreams.

We all have a tendency to get caught up in the busyness of our day to day lives. The constant whirring as we think about what’s next on our to-do list. The realisation of just how much we have to get done – by today, tomorrow, next week. It’s endless mind-chatter. People often talk about how ‘stressed’ they feel – with no let up – especially when you’re a business owner.

5 simple, stress-busting tips.

We cover a variety of stress-management techniques in our Wellbeing module, but in the meantime, here are some simple tips and tricks to enable you to feel more in control. Sound good? Read on!

These tips are all quick and easy, no fluff. They might not all speak to you, but one of them just might be the one to help you feel more grounded, less stressed, more present and happier.

1. Write everything down.

This is always a major win for me. Get it out of your head and down on paper. Whatever it is that’s clogging up your thoughts, if you write it all down it will clear your head and allow to relax a bit because you then have nothing to remember / or nothing to worry about forgetting! Or perhaps you just want to vent about something so you can get back to your positive flow – go for it!

2. Play your favourite song.

Got a favourite song? Play it loud. Sing, dance, have fun and feel free. This has to be my personal favourite – it never fails to shift my mood and de-stress me, and it takes about 3.5 minutes depending on your song choice!

3. Say no sometimes.

Feeling stressed because you’re over-committed? Some of us are people pleasers – helping people is important to us. However, when always saying ‘yes’ means you end up feeling stressed and out of control, it’s time to say ‘no’. Some people feel very uncomfortable with doing this, but there are ways of saying it nicely, without offending anyone. Sometimes, saying ‘no’ can actually benefit your business!

So, think really hard next time someone asks for your help – must you do it? And if so, must you do it now? Can you put it on a list of things you would like to do for other people and then schedule it in for some time when you have more time?

4. Not a to-do list, but a done list.

We tend to create these insanely long to-do lists. They’re overwhelming. They often do not get done. They’re de-motivating. So, I challenge you to experiment with a ‘done list’ instead! At the end of the day, write yourself a long list of everything you got done that day. EVERYTHING. WOW! Feel amazing?!! Now celebrate and relax!

5. Move!!

I love to power walk. LOVE IT. Being outside. Taking in the views of the river. Maybe listening to music or a motivational podcast. Maybe just taking in the quiet and letting go of thoughts and stresses. Breathing in the fresh air. Being in nature. It’s so therapeutic. It can also lead to some nice flow in terms of your thoughts and ideas settling and coming to light. It is the most natural way to de-stress and highly under-utilised, the positive chemical release is a natural anti-depressant.
