When you first think about it, investing in something like business coaching can seem like a huge, risky, and expensive deal. You may not have a prior relationship with the person. They may charge what seems like a large amount, and do so with no guarantee of return. And on the surface, all of these things can put you off. But actually, the reasons why you should work with a business coach hugely outweigh the risks. And hopefully, the investment you make will be returned many times over through the growth of your business.

What does a business coach do?

Before we get into the reasons why you should work with a business coach, let’s think about what one actually is. We’ve explored this in more detail in a separate blog, but essentially a business coach will help you to discover your goals and your potential and develop a plan to help you to achieve both of these things. They will help you to take your business from where it is now, to where you want it to be.

A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life.

3 reasons why you should work with a business coach

If you’ve read this far, you are probably already interested in business coaching, and how it can take you and your business to the next level. So to get a little further into the detail, here are three reasons why you should work with a business coach.

1) Capturing your vision

This reason is crucial. A good business coach will not only bring you a fresh perspective, but they will also work with you to capture your deeper thoughts. Your vision. Those big dreams and goals. Your values. And how all of these things translate to your business and its future.

2) Planning your route

Once you have worked out your vision and your direction, a good business coach will help you to develop a plan to help you get there. This might include the identification of specific actions, but it might also involve discussion of ‘deeper’ issues and challenges relating to your mindset, like confidence and procrastination.

3) Making it happen

Having someone tell you how to make progress is not a reason why you should work with a business coach. In fact, this is the opposite of what should happen in a coaching relationship. Business coaching is, instead, about empowering you to make the progress you’re looking for, yourself. This is why you need to be committed to implementing what you learn on your coaching journey. Because the only person responsible for making things happen in your business, is you! That said though, a good business coach will hold you accountable for your actions!
